What connecting does

  • Publishes the products you build in POD Mfg to your store.
  • Receives your paid orders so we can print and ship them.
  • Marks each order fulfilled in Shopify with the tracking number.

Permissions we ask for

  • read_orders: see the orders placed on your store.
  • write_products: publish and update the POD Mfg products.
  • read_merchant_managed_fulfillment_orders and write_merchant_managed_fulfillment_orders: mark shipped items fulfilled with tracking.

We never ask for payment details. Webhook notices leave out the buyer's email and customer record. You can disconnect at any time and we stop receiving orders.

How to connect

  1. Open your store's Shopify admin. Only the store owner can do this. Go to Settings, Apps, then Develop apps, then Build apps in Dev Dashboard.
  2. Create an app: click Create app, then Create app manually, name it POD Mfg, paste the four permissions listed above into Scopes and press Release.
  3. Check Shopify will share the shipping name and address (Shopify calls this protected customer data; there is no switch for it in the Dev Dashboard). It is automatic when the app's Home page has no Distribution card and your store is on the Grow plan or higher, not Basic or Starter. If the app's Home page shows a Distribution card, click Select distribution method, choose Custom distribution, then use Manage custom install link to generate an install link for your store.
  4. Install the app on your store: Install app on the app's Installs card, or your custom install link.
  5. Copy the Client ID and Client secret from the Credentials panel in the app's App settings.
  6. Paste them into the start form with your .myshopify.com address and your business details. We keep the secret encrypted and delete it if you don't confirm your email within 24 hours.
  7. Confirm your email and accept our terms. We then check the permissions and the store, register the order notices, and open your portal. If Shopify refuses something, the portal tells you what to fix and lets you try again.
